Jelutong is a town in
Penang, Malaysia in the outskirts of
Georgetown, the capital of
Penang. The main road leading to
Jelutong town centre is Jalan Jelutong. As this is a predominantly
residential area, the major areas of interest are its famous local food
stalls.
A new
coastal highway connecting Georgetown to Bayan Lepas named the Jelutong
Expressway has since been constructed to solve the traffic woes on the
main Jalan Jelutong.
Jelutong
has many famous schools. They are SJK(C) Jelutong, SK Jelutong and Heng Ee
High School Penang is also famous for its 'Tengas' (in Tamil means
'Coconuts') Tengas are used predominatly during Thaipusam where devotees
break coconuts to pay homage to Lord Muruga.
Jelutong
once has two supermarkets named Suiwah (closed since 2006) and Sunshine
Square (closed since 2010).
