Balingian
(also known as Baligian) is a town and province in
Sarawak, Malaysia. It
lies approximately 286.1 kilometres (178 mi) east-north-east of the state
capital Kuching.
It is located about 60 km from Mukah town, and recent developments have
started to transform the area: the coastal road has improved links to
other towns; the Sarawak Corridor of Renewal Energy (SCORE); an aluminium
factory about 25 km from Balingian. Offshore oil and gas is also a growth
area for Balingian.
