Sungai Jawi is a town
and also district capital of South Seberang Perai,
Penang, Malaysia. It takes
its name after the river that runs through the area, Sungai Jawi. The main
village in that area is also called Sungai Jawi, located to the northeast
of Nibong Tebal.
Among the villages and settlements in the Jawi area include Kampung Jawi,
Pekan Sungai Jawi, Taman Jawi Jaya, Kampung Makau Suah, Taman Seruling
Emas, Taman Kesuma and Kampung Changkat Diam. The area is just 5 km from
the Kedah border.
There is an exit for the North-South Expressway (PLUS) at the Jawi
Interchange (Exit 156).
